Ready-to-drink Cocktail review:
Malibu Island Spiced & Club Soda

Ready-to-drink cocktail review Malibu Island spice

Time for a new "canned" cocktail review babes!

This time I'm trying out the Malibu Island Spiced & Club SodaI spotted this at my local liquor store next to a handful of other "sparkling pre-mixed drinks" from Malibu. The brand recognition is what initially pulled me in. After looking at the flavors available I decided to go with this one because - in addition  to being a sucker for cute packaging (which you can read more about here) - I'm also a sucker for trying "low cal" things.

This can is only 60 calories. It is also tiny making it basically half the serving size of other pre-made cocktails I've tried so that claim feels a little bit like creative marketing to me. This cocktail is made with the low calorie sweetener Truvia and you can definitely tell. It has that sugar-free sweetener taste which I personally don't love but may not bother you at all.

After a few sips, I wished I'd gone for the OG "Malibu and pineapple" mix but to be honest, that seemed *too* lazy. I'm all for easy cocktails but that drink is only two ingredients and I'm pretty sure we all can handle that ourselves even with busy schedules, am I right ladies? Plus I was worried I would be unfairly comparing it to the real thing. I may or may not have consumed my fair share of Malibu and pineapples with my gay bestie (Hi Ronnie!) back in the day. Anywho, I wasn't a huge fan of this cocktail right off the bat but I promised you all I'd take one for the team and try these drinks so that's what I did. You're welcome. :)

Here is official my score for the Malibu Island Spiced & Club Soda:

Two cocktail shakers

I mean, it's fine. It doesn't taste bad but it doesn't really taste great either. There isn't a ton of flavor while your are drinking it but it has a pleasant coconut rum aftertaste.

One cocktail shaker

One shaker = not sweet at all // Five shakers = your teeth may curl

Not sweet - like at all. Which will make some people super happy but personally I prefer things to be a bit sweeter. For example, I like my southern sweet tea with little bit of tea to go with my sugar.

One cocktail shaker

Booziness:
One shaker = does this have booze? // Five shakers = Four Lokos

Officially this one rings in at 5% ABV in the slim 6.8 oz can. This pre-made cocktail comes in a four pack. I think you could easily drink all four and walk away with only the tiniest of buzzes.

Would I buy this again?

Probably not - but I am not ruling out the Malibu drinks all together. I plan to go back and try a different flavor next time. I have my eye on the pina colada . . .

Have you tried this drink? What did you think? I'd love to hear from you in the comments section. The more opinions the better! This should be a fun place for all of us to "drink together" and share our best girl talk.
