This one's for the sour cocktail lovers
Does this bottle look familiar? If it does, it's because this is the second mix we are trying from Barcoop Bevy. After loving their Spicy Strawberry Margarita mix so much (you can read my full review here), I was hell-bent on trying more from this line. Lucky for me the awesome folks at Barcoop Bevy took notice of my fan girl-ing and sent me two more mixes to try. How over-the-top amazing is that?!?!? Cocktails are truly the way to this girls heart.
First up we are trying the Grapefruit Margarita mix. If it is anything like the Spicy Strawberry Margarita then it's going to be awesome. Let's jump right in, shall we?
Here is my official review of Barcoop Bevy's Grapefruit Margarita cocktail mix:
This is another a-mazing margarita mix from Barcoop Bevy. The *only* reason I didn't give it 5 cocktail shakers is because I'm personally not the biggest grapefruit fan. But if you love grapefruit, greyhounds are your jam, or you love sour things, then I'd be willing to bet this would be a 5 star cocktail mix for you.
The Barcoop Bevy Grapefruit Margarita mix has an awesome, fresh, craft cocktail flavor to it. The flavor is so rich you'd think someone swapped out your cocktail mix drink for a fancy mixology marg while you weren't looking. You really taste fresh grapefruit with a hint of sweet to keep the tart in check. I thought I'd hate this mix since I strongly dislike grapefruit but I don't hate it at all. I actually really liked this cocktail and I'm excited to mix up more of these margaritas for my friends this weekend. Cheers to surprising yourself!
One shaker = not sweet at all // Five shakers = your teeth may curl
This cocktail mix is only sweet enough to dial down a bit of the tartness from the grapefruit. If this was a tartness scale instead of sweetness, it would be 5 cocktail shakers.
This grapefruit margarita mix is super tart and super grapefruit-y but somehow it is just sweet enough that you don't make that pucker face that grapefruit can cause.
One shaker = does this have booze? Five shakers = Four Lokos
When you mix this cocktail as suggested on the label (2 parts mix + 1 part tequila + a lotta ice) you get a preeeety stiff margarita for the first few sips. Once the ice melts a bit it isn't as strong. Alternatively, you could do 3 parts mix to 1 part tequila. I tried this cocktail mixed both ways and honestly, it is awesome either way which is what I love about a mix.
Cocktail mixes are like those old "choose your own adventure" books right? Like do I want to be swasted tonight? Or am I looking for an easy, relaxing nightcap?
You do you ladies!
Would I buy this ready to drink cocktail again?
I am a big Barcoop Bevy fan so I will for sure continue to try all the mixes in their line. I doubt I would buy the grapefruit marg again but that is ONLY because grapefruit is not my favorite margarita flavor.
On another note, I just have to mention again how much I love the packaging on this mix. Not only is it cute af, it is also highly informative. These cocktail loving friends suggest alternative liquor choices AND show you how to use the bottle to whip up a big batch cocktail. If all brands looked out for us like that, this would would be a much happier place!
Have you tried this drink? What did you think? I'd love to hear from you in the comments section. The more opinions the better! Let's "drink together" and share our cocktail stories.
