We are going back to my first cocktail love - the margarita!
Have you tried any of the Skinnygirl low calorie,
ready-to-serve cocktails? I know this line has been around forever but I've never tried them. I have no idea why - but today's the day.
My default order at the bar is always a skinny margarita so I was hopeful that could be my new at-home fix. This pre-made margarita does not boast the natural ingredients that some of the other margas I've reviewed do, plus it is famously low-cal, so I wasn't sure what to expect. Prior to tasting it I was a little worried that it would just taste like a water down margarita. Good news babes! It doesn't.
This bottled margarita is light AND boozy! Heck yeah! What this marg lacks in authentic, fresh margarita flavor it makes up for in fuzz factor. (If you missed my explanation of fuzz, check it out here.) The Skinnygirl Margarita may not be the tastiest margarita I've ever had but it does check off two major boxes in my book. I know I'll catch a good buzz (check) and I won't rack up a lot of calories in the process (check, check).

This marg has a light taste with just a hint sweet. It has more flavor than I expected from a cocktail billed as being low in calories. But overall, it's a bit of a struggle to drink because every now and then it bites back in that way only cheap booze can.

This is not a sweet margarita so it's perfect if you are a fan of lighter drinks. It has a touch of sweet but nothing like you'd expect from a traditional, non-skinny margarita.

Officially this one rings in at 12.7% ABV and I love it. This bottled cocktail will get the job done. It is boozy and pretty cheap. You can pick up a 750ml bottle for right around $10.
The downside is that it's a cheap buzz - which is totally a catch-22. About an hour after I completed this review I got that icky feeling you get from well-drink cocktails, which was a fun flashback to my 20s. These days I like my buzz without the low rent side effects even if I have to pay a little more.
Would I buy this again?
Sure. Now that I know what to expect from the Skinnygirl line, I'll keep it in mind for parties where I know I'll be mixing and mingling rather than sitting down to savor a cocktail. There is nothing wrong with having a low-cal alternative for a busy girl's social calendar. I have my eye on the Skinnygirl Sweet'rita next.

I love this brand. I can drink half the bottle and feel a light buzz. Ive drank a whole bottle before and am literally feeling amazing but not out of my head or anything. I still have control, but with a great no worries buzz.
