Ready-to-drink cocktail review:
On The Rocks "The Honeyed Herbs"

Posted by Jaime Fowler on

Bottled cocktail review of On The Rocks

How cute is this tiny bottle?

Don't let it fool you!

This cocktail packs a punch!!

I was initially intrigued by this bottled cocktail  because it was available in two sizes. This small size and a one a little bigger with a fancy cork lid. I haven't seen anything quite like it in the ready-to-drink cocktail
section at Total Wine. It's very Mad Men with it's packaging - a style usually reserved for  high-end tequila or scotch.

For practical reasons I decided to go with the small bottle. There were two cocktails from On The Rocks  to choose from so I picked the vodka based one.

The label calls it "The Honeyed Herbs" and describes it as "a blend of crisp cilantro, vibrant lime, and cooling cucumber with a rich undertone of honey." That is a super detailed description but ladies let me tell you, it's worth every word.

On The Rocks bottled cocktail review by The Pursuit of Cocktails

This is a sophisticated ladies sipping drink. And not just because it is 40 proof!! Woza! You can really taste each of those ingredients and get a strong shot of the good stuff while you're at it.

Lucky for me, this little beauty came into my life on the perfect day. I often buy several pre-made cocktails at a time to save myself a trip to the liquor store every Thursday so I happened to already have this one on hand after coming home from a very bad day. If there was ever a time to break out the good stuff, it was today. And I feel much better about life a few sips into this teeny bottle.

Here is official my score for the On The Rocks "The Honey Herbs" cocktail:

Winner winner chicken dinner! I'm not sure exactly how to explain this ready-to-drink cocktail other than I love it.

It has a super complex flavor. You can absolutely tell that it is made with quality ingredients. And it's strong! But unlike last week's cocktail, I didn't have an instant, cheap hangover. It's amazing what a difference real ingredients can make. (If you missed last week's review, you can catch up here.)

Sweetness

One shaker = not sweet at all  // Five shakers = your teeth may curl

This is not a sweet cocktail. It is lightly sweetened with honey and honestly, it's pretty perfect. If you're following my reviews then you know I like a sweet cocktail - but I'm not mad about this one not being sweet. I think its sweetness is in perfect balance with the other more savory flavors that come through. (How "fancy mixologist" did that sound? LOL)

Booziness

One shaker = does this have booze? Five shakers = Four Lokos

Officially this one rings in at 20% ABV and Holy. Bananas. This is it strong for a cocktail and I have to say it's juuuust right for those days when a dainty, light cocktail are just not going to cut it.

Would I buy this again?

You know it! I'm already planning another trip to Total Wine and this time I'm going for the big bottle! And maybe all the other flavors while I'm at it.
