ISO the perfect on-the-go cocktail for Fall. Could this pre-made White Russian be it?
Fall is finally here and I've been dying to try out this ready-to-drink White Russian from Kahlúa.
I haven't had a White Russian since college (has anyone?) but I remember loving them! Plus this seems like the perfect Fall cocktail so I picked up a four pack a few weeks ago. How great it would be to have an easy, fall-inspired cocktail to take to all the activities this time of year? With happy thoughts of pumpkin patches and hay rides while sipping a delicious cocktail I headed to the checkout.

At first sniff of this bottled cocktail I was nervous. When I opened the cap I got a super strong cheap alcohol smell - but I figured we could only go up from here so I forged on.
Luckily, this cocktail did get better as I drank it - but it was never great. It totally lacks the things that make a White Russian special. It wasn't creamy. It wasn't sweet. It had absolutely no richness to it. Honestly, it was a little like a watered down well drink pretending to be a White Russian.
Save yourself on this one!
Sadly this ready-to-drink version of a White Russian totally misses the mark. You know I'm all about an easy cocktail but in this case, skip the pre-made version. I say grab a bottle of the traditional Kahlúa, some vodka and heavy cream and whip up your own White Russian from scratch.
One shaker = not sweet at all // Five shakers = your teeth may curl
I know it's been a minute since I've had a White Russian but I remember them being sweet. This bottled cocktail version had no sweetness at all. I was pretty disappointed. I was expecting this cocktail to be like a mini dessert but it totally missed that mark. There was nothing sweet or indulgent about it.
One shaker = does this have booze? Five shakers = Four Lokos
The White Russian officially rings in at 5% ABV and 10 proof. While I got a strong taste of alcohol, I didn't get even a baby buzz. What I got was an immediate headache from the cheap booze. Which is the ultimate insult to injury in my book. No bueno!
Would I buy these again?
No, I think I'll pass on the pre-made version and go straight to the OG and mix my own cocktail.
