Ready-to-drink cocktail review: Brody's Crafted Cocktails - the vodka cocktails

Posted by Jaime Fowler on

Review of Brody's Crafted Cocktails ready-to-drink vodka cocktails

Happy Friday cocktail lovers! I am back this week with the ready-to-drink *vodka* cocktails from Brody's. If you missed it, last week was my first experience with Brody's and I tried their rum Air Mail cocktail which I loved! So I'm excited to be moving on to the vodka cocktails this week and then I'll be back next week with two gin cocktails from their line.

This week is all about the vodka and Brody's has two vodka based cocktails a Mint Mule and a Black Orchid. I'm sure I'm going to love the mule but I have no idea what to expect from the Black Orchid. One of the ingredients in the Black Orchid cocktail is violet and I'm pretty sure that is not a flavor I've had before so I'm interested to see if I can taste it / what it tastes like.

As I mentioned last week, all of the cocktails from Brody's are made to either drink straight OR you can mix them equal parts with champagne for a different take. I did remember to pick up champagne this week so I will be try that. Also, I would just like to state for the record, I did in fact get carded for my champagne. I'm 40 - and I still got it! LOL I always find that so funny because often times the person who asked fo my ID is then kind of embarrassed. 😜

As usual, I dressed up my Brody's cocktails with some lemon garnish and some Swizzly Sticks. This week I used one of the custom ones I made for Brody's plus a few Cheers Swizzly Sticks from my line. And now we are ready to sip!

Here is my official review of Brody's ready-to-drink vodka cocktails:

4 out of 5 cocktail shakers
Overall, I really liked both of the Brody's vodka cocktails. They are both super tasty cocktails with a twist. In this case the twist is an earthy flavor that I did not expect at all. Keep reading if floral flavors are your jam.
Brody's Black Orchid: Very interesting! I don't think I've ever tasted anything quite like this. The first flavor I tasted was raspberry which was then quickly followed by what I decided must be the violet. It has a really floral, plant like taste. It's not bitter. It's not sweet. It's not herbal. I'm not sure how to describe it exactly. But it is a main flavor of this drink so it will make you either really like or dislike this drink. After several sips, I decided it wasn't my favorite flavor but I did like the raspberry flavor so overall I guess I'm neutral on this one. However, I know my friend B will love this one because she really likes anything with botanical flavors. I'm happy I got a chance to try this one. Plus now I know what violet tastes like.
Brody's Mint Mule: Yum! This was almost exactly what I was expecting it to be. It is a really yummy mule with lots of great flavor topped with mint. The one thing I wasn't expecting was the flavor of the mint. This has the same floral, botanical flavor as the Black Orchid so it is more like you are tasting the mint plant than artificial mint flavoring. It is really interesting in a good way!
If you like floral or botanical flavors then do not sleep on these vodka cocktails from Brody's. They both have that earthy vibe. Overall, I really like these. I'm personally not the hugest fan of floral flavors but I can totally appreciate that these are really good cocktails.
I did try both of these mixed with champagne. I liked the addition of the bubbles but the Brody's cocktails are still 100% the star. Adding the champagne didn't change the flavor of either cocktail. It just added a little extra flair. I think topping the Brody's cocktails off with champagne would be such a classy move at party - plus you'd get twice as many cocktails out of the bottle. Each bottle of Brody's contains 5 cocktails normally so with the champagne you'd get 10. Now that's the kind of party bartending I like. :)
Sweetness

1 out of 5 cocktail shakers

One shaker = not sweet at all  // Five shakers = your teeth may curl

Neither one of these Brody's cocktails are sweet. If anything they are closer to the bitter end from that botanical flavor.

Booziness

4 out of 5 cocktail shakers
One shaker = does this have booze? Five shakers = OG Four Lokos

The Brody's Black Orchid vodka cocktail officially ring in at 16% ABV. The Mint Mule is 25%. So these are pretty darn boozy but honestly, they are so well done that I did not taste even a hint of booze - which is awesome and so dangerous at the same time! Both of these Brody's cocktails have the perfect amount of booziness in my book.

Would I buy this ready to drink cocktail again?

I'm on the fence about the Brody's vodka cocktails. I will definitely be sharing them with my friends this weekend to get their take. Either way, I know I love the rum Air Mail so that is on my shopping list already and I'm pumped to try the gin cocktails next week.

If you want to order any of the Brody's cocktails you can do that online on their website here: https://shop.drinkbrodys.com/

Or you can use this map to find them in our area: https://www.drinkbrodys.com/findnearyou

And I'll be back next week with two more Brody's cocktails. Until next week cocktail lovers, Cheers!
