Happy Friday friends! I'm continuing on my Trader Joe's kick this week with another one of the new liqueurs that has popped up this holiday season. This week I'm trying the Cocoa Cream liqueur. If you missed last week, I tried the Cold Brew Coffee liqueur and you can read that here. Since I grabbed both of these a few weeks ago, I've seen two more liqueurs at T.J.s - a gingerbread which I think is brand new and their eggnog which I think they had last year. Have you tried either of those? Should I?
But getting back to this week, I've been super excited to try the Cocoa Cream. I'm hoping it will be like a grown-up hot chocolate. I decided to use a Swizzly from the 2021 collection that I'm finalizing to garnish this cocktail with another Trader Joe's find, a chocolate from the Boozy Little Chocolate Truffles box. There are four different boozy chocolates in that box and I decided to review those as well because that's just who I am as a person and I love sharing all thing boozy with you. If you want to read that review, you can check it out here.
Now onto the Cocoa Cream!
Here is my official review of the Trader Joe's Cocoa Cream Liqueur:
One shaker = not sweet at all // Five shakers = your teeth may curl
This Trader Joe's Cocoa Cream liqueur is definitely sweet - but I've had sweeter. I honestly thought this would be the over-the-top sweet cocktail I've been looking for for the winter months but it's not that sweet. On the upside, it is still sweet enough to feel like a treat but not so sweet that you can't drink a whole glass of it.
Note: I do really like sweet drinks so if you aren't a sweet person, this might be too much for you. These reviews are just my personal take. Let me know what you think in the comments.
One shaker = does this have booze? Five shakers = OG Four Lokos
Officially this one rings in at 14.75% ABV which is pretty high in terms of beer but but not that high in terms of liquor. Plus, similar to last week's liqueur, you probably won't be drinking enough of this in one sitting to really get drunk.
This is a great sipping drink, especially during this crazy holiday season, and it's perfect for just gently softening the edges of your day with a sweet treat before bed.
Would I buy this ready to drink cocktail again?
Yes! I think I might pick up a back up bottle at Trader Joe's today. I'm pretty sure it is seasonal and I don't want to miss the chance to grab another one. This has become party of my evening ritual the last few days as the perfect end for the day.
Until next week cocktail lovers! Cheers!
