Happy Friday cocktail lovers! This is the very first ready-to-drink cocktail review of 2021 and it's going to be a good one. If you haven't heard, they just announced Sex and The City will begin filming 10 new episodes, and I'm dying of excitement!! I have all the episodes on DVD. I've seen all the movies. I love all things Sex and The City. (I'm obviously a Carrie because I have curly hair and love clothes. )
In honor of this momentous news, I'm obviously going to have a Cosmo - the drink made famous by the series. I can honestly say before watching Sex and The City I really didn't know about cocktails. I grew up in the Midwest around mostly beer drinkers. Sometimes I would see someone with a bottle of wine. And maybe a margarita if someone was feeling fancy - and by margarita I mean Mountain Dew and tequila, possibly a splash of oj.
So when I saw the beautiful cocktails on the show my eyes were open to the possibility of a drink that wasn't beer, wine, or a sad mixed drink that had no style. It's possible I owe my whole cocktail loving brand to Sex and The City.
In their honor, this week I am trying the Cosmopolitan from On The Rocks cocktails. A few years ago I tried The Honey Herbed, you can read that review here, and it was a super legit, strong cocktail so I have no doubt their Cosmo is going to be amazing.
And with that, let's give it a try.
Here is my official review of the On The Rocks Cosmopolitan:
One shaker = not sweet at all // Five shakers = your teeth may curl
This Cosmo from On The Rocks is more tart that sweet. It is a very drinkable cocktail whether you prefer a sweet cocktail or something a little less sweet.
This is a vodka based cocktail so it doesn't have the innate sweetness of some other liquors so just as a reminder, this is not your usual hard seltzer. This is a real cocktail, with a real, lady-like amount of booze. We'll get into that next.
One shaker = does this have booze? Five shakers = OG Four Lokos
Officially this one rings in at 20% ABV or 40 proof so yeah, it's a real cocktail. I would say it is the strong ass cocktail we could all use right now. The booze flavor is totally nonexistent in this Cosmo but you immediately feel that boozy relaxation melt through your body.
If you need something a little stronger than a hard seltzer, give this cocktail a try.
Would I buy this ready to drink cocktail again?
Yes. Done. Absolutely. Will be taking this to my first post-covid hangout with the girls. And, not that I'm already planning it or anything, but I think I'll serve it with a sparkly Swizzly™, garnished with some cotton candy for a sweet treat.
The On The Rocks bottled cocktails come in two sizes. There is the smaller size which is what I picked up. It is 200 ml which is roughly 6 oz and a little more than a standard Cosmo size - which I love. The larger size is 375 ml which is 12.6 oz. The larger bottle will get you two very generous cocktails or 3 more standard sized cocktails. And the larger bottles come with this cool cork lid as an added bonus. You know I'm a sucker for good packaging.
On The Rocks has several other cocktails in their line up and after loving 2 out of the 2 I've tried, I'll keep coming back for more. Which one should I try next?
- The Cosmopolitan - love it
- The Aviation
- The Old Fashioned - I *need* to try this one asap
- The Mai Tai
- The Margarita
- Jalapeño Pineapple Margarita - um, yes please!
Which one should I try next?

I hated it. Too tart. Making it by scratch much better.
