Powell and Mahoney Cosmo cocktail mix review

Easy Cosmos for a crowd

Two things I love and can't get enough of are Cosmos and girl time. When I am able to combine these two I'm guaranteed to do a happy dance.

If you've been following me for long then you know that I love to spend time with my friends but I don't want to be stuck playing bartender all night. I have flashbacks of an engagement party I hosted once where I think 95% of the guest didn't know my name or that they were even in my house. I was just the girl bringing them drinks all night. Never again!

Fast forward to now and this blog. I am always looking for easier entertaining ideas that let me join in on the fun too instead of being just the hostess all night. So ready to drink cocktails, canned cocktails, cocktail mixes - it's all part of my master plan to find the best, easiest and most repeat-worthy cocktails so we can join our own parties ladies!

With that in mind I've been keeping an eye out for craft cocktail mixes that can easily make a big batch of cocktails for a crowd. I especially love it when the bottles have instructions (aka math!) right on the label for mixing a larger amount. Which how I came to try this Cosmopolitan mix from Powell & Mahoney.

I was lured in by the natural ingredients and mixing flexibility, plus the label is pretty and I'm a sucker for that. :) For this review I followed the instructions on the bottle for one cocktail but I used a regular, unflavored vodka from Trader Joe's rather than citrus vodka so I could taste the mix more clearly. I didn't want to give it an unfair advantage by using a flavored vodka.

So how was it? Keep reading to find out.

Powell & Mahoney craft cocktail mix review

Here is my official review of the Powell & Mahoney Cosmopolitan mix:

Five cocktail shakers

This is a SERIOUSLY good cocktail mix.

"I hereby swear to never make a cosmo the lazy way with cranberry juice again."

This premade cocktail mix from Powell & Mahoney is just as easy, not much more expensive than cranberry juice, but it is worlds apart from splashing cranberry juice in vodka. Don't do it! Pick up this mix instead!

The flavor of this mix is soooo good. It is rich, tart and has a bit more lime than other cosmos I've tried recently which really elevates this cocktail. I can't wait to try it with citrus vodka as recommended on the bottle. This Powell & Mahoney Cosmopolitan mix is going into my regular rotation for sure!

Sweetness

one cocktail shaker
One shaker = not sweet at all  // Five shakers = your teeth may curl

This cosmo cocktail mix is not sweet at all which is right in line with the traditional cocktail.

Booziness

Five cocktail shakers
One shaker = does this have booze? Five shakers = Four Lokos

Okay, so obviously this pre-made cocktail mix does not contain alcohol. However, if you follow the recipe on the bottle, you will have a seriously boozy cosmopolitan in your glass. This cocktail is just 3 oz so it is tiny but mighty just like a true cosmo and I'm officially adding it to my when "I-need-to-chill-the-hell-out" cocktail category.

Would I buy these again?

For sure! And I can guarantee my friends will be looking for this mix in my fridge next time they come over.  We all loved this Powell & Mahoney mix so I will definitely be trying more of their craft cocktail mix line. There are a TON to choose from so here is the full list:

    • Margaritas - Classic marg, Skinny marg, Mango marg and - the one I *have* to find and try- Jalapeno marg
    • Bloody Marys - Classic, Spicy & Sriracha
    • Peach Bellini
    • Lemon Sour
    • Cosmopolitan
    • Blood Orange
    • Pomegranate

They also have sparkling canned mixers in mojito, ginger beer, tonic water and a fancy blood orange ginger beer that sounds delicious plus other bar essentials like simple syrup and grenadine.

I *highly* recommend you try these Powell & Mahoney cocktail mixes. You can pick up most of these from Amazon so add one (or a bunch) to your cart now before you forget. And cruise through our shop to pick up a few shatterproof cocktail glasses for your next girls night.

Have you tried this drink? What did you think? I'd love to hear from you in the comments section. The more opinions the better! Let's "drink together" and share our cocktail stories.

  • I adore this mixer. Cosmo’s are even better when you replace the citrus vodka with Uncle Val’s Botanical Gin and a tiny splash of Grand Marnier . Super yummy! Extra boozy!! Panty dropin’ smooth!!!
