Cocktail Mix Review:
Barcoop Bevy's Piña Colada

Posted by Jaime Fowler on

Barcoop Bevy pina colada cocktail mix reviewed by The Pursuit of Cocktails

If you like piña coladas & dancing in the rain...

You know that song right? It always reminds me of the show Friends for some reason. Anyway, we are trying our very first piña colada this week using the cocktail mix from my favorite cocktail mix line so far, Barcoop Bevy. You may remember I also tried their Spicy Strawberry Margarita mix and their Grapefruit Margarita mix in the past. I've been excited to try the piña colada because it is one cocktail I very rarely have. I think I've only ever had them at cheap college bars where they are high on sweet and low on liquor. Now that I'm an *adult* I'm pumped to try this cocktail in a more refined manor. So let's do it!

Here is my official review of Barcoop Bevy's Piña Colada mix:

Four cocktail shakers

This cocktail mix wasn't anything like I expected. I was mentally prepared for a sweet coconut-y cocktail. But this piña colada mix is more pineapple than coconut and is much less sweet than drinks I've had in the past.

Once I got past my preconceived idea, I really loved this cocktail. It has a super fresh, natural ingredient flavor to it that you rarely find in off the shelf cocktail mixes. It really tasted like fresh pineapple and coconut sweetened with actual real sugar. No artificial flavors here! My only regret is that I didn't go full Pinterest and serve it inside a carved out pineapple.

Sweetness

Three cocktail shakers
One shaker = not sweet at all  // Five shakers = your teeth may curl

As I mentioned above, this cocktail mix was not nearly as sweet as I was expecting. It is just lightly sweetened with sugar cane, not artificial sweeter and you can really tell the difference. You won't get that sticky sweet stomach ache from this cocktail mix.

Booziness

Three cocktail shakers
One shaker = does this have booze? Five shakers = Four Lokos

I mixed this cocktail using the recipe on the bottle - 2 parts mix, 1 part rum, lots of ice - and it came out a nice, refreshing summer cocktail. It was not overly boozy - but you could easily add more rum if you wanted to get a little more bang for your buck.

Would I buy this cocktail mix again?

Yes, I still have a little bit left in this bottle and I can't wait to mix up a round of drinks for my next girls night. This one is a winner!

Have you tried this piña colada cocktail mix? What did you think? I'd love to hear from you in the comments section. The more opinions the better! Let's "drink together" and share our cocktail stories.
