Canned Cocktail Review:
Tip Top's Old Fashioned

This one is tiny but mighty 

First of all, how cute is this little can? And that dapper giraffe with a monocle logo? I'm swooning already. You know I'm a sucker for good packaging and this brand has it in spades. 

While I haven't seen these in stores in my area, I've been eyeing them on the Gram for awhile now. I stalk cocktails these days like I used to online stalk my dates pre-meeting. If you've ever been a single girl on the dating apps, you know what I mean.  So when the Tip Top team offered to send me some cocktails to try, I was over-the-moon excited to meet IRL.

I decided to start my Tip Top date with an Old Fashioned so let's dig in.

It says right on the can that this is a full size drink and they are not kidding. This is full size cocktail - not a mixer, not a half serving. Once you pop one open you'll understand why. This is a strong AF cocktail ringing in at 74 proof. But it is also spot on for a proper Old Fashioned. 

The flavor is perfection for an Old Fashioned. You taste the quality whiskey right off the bat with a hint of orange and hint of sweetness. Then as you continue to sip this cocktail you get more and more of the caramel flavor from the whiskey. And when I say this is a strong drink, I mean I enjoyed it over the course of several hours. It was just as good when I popped it open as it was after all the ice had melted and the cocktails was longer chilled which is pretty amazing in the world of cocktails.

I wish my fridge was stocked full of these cans because this is exactly how an Old Fashioned should be - but in a way more convenient way than having orange bitters and cane sugar cubes handy every evening.

If you love a whiskey drink, DO NOT MISS THIS ONE. Do I need to say it louder for the people in the back? ;)

One shaker = not sweet at all  // Five shakers = your teeth may curl

True to the OG cocktail roots of an Old Fashioned, Tip Top's canned cocktail has just the slightest hint of sweet. Approximately one sugar cubes worth I'm guessing. 

One shaker = does this have booze? Five shakers = Four Lokos

Officially this one rings in 37% ABV. Also known as 74 proof. A typical beer is 6% for the record. Take a minute to let that number soak in.

This cocktail is one of the strongest I've ever tried and I loved it. With one sip, I could feel it in my whole body. This is the cocktail you should bring when your friend is going through a break-up, or you have to tell your S.O. you totaled their car, or you have to have a really, really uncomfortable conversation. If you need instant relief from your day, this is your cocktail. And it is waaaaay tastier than a Four Lokos could ever dream of being.

Would I buy this ready to drink cocktail again?

Hell yes! Upon sipping this, I immediately texted my girl gang about this canned cocktail. That's the first time I've ever done that. Usually, I drag them into tasting cocktails with me, which they are happy to do. But in this case, I was drunk texting them rave reviews at 2:30 pm on a Tuesday afternoon. And I finished the cocktail! Typically, I'll have several sips and write my review without indulging in the full cocktail while I'm working but there was no way I was going to let this fantastic cocktail go to waste, weekday afternoon be damned.
