Ummm... this is unexpected
This week is the last installment of my review of the Tip Top Proper Cocktails line. I tried their Old Fashioned first and it rocked my world. You can read my review of the Old Fashioned here. Then I tried their Manhattan and it was everything I'd hoped for. You can read that one here.
I accidentally saved the Negroni for last. I'm typically not a gin girl and I've only had one other Negroni in my life and it wasn't not my favorite. If I was thinking clearly, I should have started with the Negroni (my least favorite cocktail) and saved the Old Fashioned for last (my favorite cocktail) but I totally screwed up and did it in reverse. So when I say this Negroni was unexpected - yeah. Okay. This one totally deserves to be the last. While I'm super super sad to have consumed all of my Tip Top canned cocktails, I am kinda excited this was my last one.
Dig into my review below to hear why.
Here is my official review of Tip Top Proper Cocktails Negroni:
Well crap! This little can just proved my theory wrong that I don't like Negronis. This cocktail was amazing despite being made of several of my least favorite cocktail flavors - dry gin and bitters. This cocktail is AMAZING.
As I was sipping, and I fully encourage you to sip these little cans because you don't want to guzzle this goodness without tasting it, I was trying to figure out what was so different about this Negroni from the one I had in the past and I settled on the gin. The one I had before had a more pine-y gin. This one is much smoother. The flavor is a little sweeter than I remember and all in all, it's such an easy drink to enjoy.
Which brings me to my next point. You can not go wrong with ANY of the Tip Top cocktails. They are all superb. And I'm not just saying that because I'm still sipping my Tip Top Negroni. ;)
One shaker = not sweet at all // Five shakers = your teeth may curl
While this is not a sweet drink over all, it is not nearly as dry as I expected it to be. Especially for a gin drink, this is a slightly sweet cocktail.
One shaker = does this have booze? Five shakers = Four Lokos
Officially this one rings in 26% ABV or 52 proof. The highest ABV Four Lokos is 14% for the record so... be careful with this and all the Tip Top canned cocktails. They don't come to play. They are seriously strong drinks. Maybe I need to change my scale to have a five-cocktail-shakers drink as a Tip Top Cocktail.
Would I buy this ready to drink cocktail again?
YES! Give me all the Tip Top Cocktails. I have yet to see these in stores near me but you can bet as soon as I do, I'll be hoarding them. And giving them as gifts to all of my friends.
If you are dying to try Tip Top you can find them on their website here.
