Hi cocktail lovers! This week I'm trying my first Post Meridiem canned cocktail. I'm starting with their margarita but I'll be reviewing the full line over the next few weeks. Huge thank you to the brand for sending me each of their cocktails to try. Tasting the full line of cocktails from a brand is my favorite! It really gives me a better idea of what the brand is all about and gives you, cocktail lover, a chance to pick which one(s) you'd like best from a brand's offering so you know what to add to your cart.
This brand is all about using real lime juice. It says so on every can, all the marketing material, and on the margarita can specifically it says "Margaritas without real lime juice are just wrong. We make it right." I 100% agree with the idea that a margarita should not be made with sugary syrups but I've thought too much about the lime juice side of things so I'm excited to see if I can taste a difference.
First up on our real lime juice cocktail journey, the margarita where lime flavor is key. Let's do this.
Here is my official review of the Post Meridiem Margarita:
WooHoo! Not only did we find another 5 cocktail shaker cocktail but it's also a margarita which is my most requested category. Take notes ladies, if you love a margarita, just add this one from Post Meridien to your shopping list right now.
One shaker = not sweet at all // Five shakers = your teeth may curl
Right off the bat I noticed this ready-to-drink margarita is a bit sweeter than your average margarita. Not in a sugary sweet way, just in a smooth, rounds-out-the-tart kind of way. You might think that since real lime juice is Post Meridiem's focus, that this marg might be extra tart but instead it's the opposite. The real lime juice gives it a fresh taste but the orange curacao smooths the whole cocktail out and give it just a hint of sweet. This is a really well done margarita - can or no can!
One shaker = does this have booze? Five shakers = OG Four Lokos
Officially this one rings in at 27.5% ABV or 55 proof. So yea, it's boozy! This is no sissy pre-made margarita. This is a strong af, tasty, tart margarita they way it should be. Obviously, I'm a fan of the flavor so the strong booziness just makes me love it more.
One note about the booziness that I'd like to add is that at no time when I was downing this entire cocktail like it was my job 😜 did I get any off putting tequila taste. The tequila is so well blended into the other flavors of this drink that you wouldn't even know it was there flavor wise - but you definitely feel the "relaxation" moving through your body. That's when you know you've just had a cocktail crafted by a master mixologist!
Would I buy this ready to drink cocktail again?
For. Sure. This is one of the best ready-to-drink margaritas I've had. I want all my marg loving friends to try it too. I also can't wait to dig into the other canned cocktails from Post Meridiem. I'll be trying all of them over the next few weeks and, as always, sharing my thoughts with you.
