Hi cocktail lovers! I'm back this week with the second canned cocktail from Picnic Brunch. Last week I tried their Mimosa, you can read it here if you missed it. This week is all about their Bloody Mary.
I'm a big fan of Bloody Marys. In fact long Sunday brunches with friends is on my top 10 list of things I've missed the most during the pandemic. I can not wait for life to go back to normal so I can go to every drag brunch I can find and enjoy endless Bloody Marys!!
But back to the task at hand, I have reviewed a few Bloody Mary mixes on this blog and two other ready-to-drink Bloody Mary's so I'm excited to add another one to the mix. One thing that I noticed while I was setting up to take photos of the Picnic Brunch can is that this canned cocktail is made from wine - so it is not a traditional tomato juice and vodka Bloody Mary. There is no liquor in this drink, just wine. I'm not sure what that means for us but there is one way to find out.
Bottoms up!
Here is my official review of the Picnic Brunch Bloody Mary:
Right off the bat I was impressed with the tomato juice flavor of the Picnic Brunch Bloody Mary. It is really tasty without being overly spicy. It does have some spicy - thank goodness, otherwise you are just drinking tomato juice with booze - but it is just enough to register the spice, not enough to really heat things up. I didn't notice the booze being different than what you'd expect but after trying two of these canned cocktails I have two pro tips to share with you for partaking in the Picnic Brunch Bloody Mary:
One shaker = not sweet at all // Five shakers = your teeth may curl
This ready-to-drink Bloody Mary is not sweet. It is also not spicy or tart. It is a really smooth, easy, tomato-y Bloody Mary.
One shaker = does this have booze? Five shakers = OG Four Lokos
Officially this one rings in at 5.5% ABV which is about the same as most light beers. The low booziness makes it a good fit for a morning cocktail while tailgating/concert going/day drinking or as a hair of the dog.
Would I buy this ready to drink cocktail again?
I'm surprised to say this since I was all geared up to love this Bloody Mary more, but I think I'll probably stick to the Picnic Brunch mimosa. I enjoyed that one just a little bit more. However, this is a solid Bloody Mary so don't sleep on it if you are a Bloody Mary fan like me.
