Canned Cocktail Review:
Joia Spirit (Part 1)

Posted by Jaime Fowler on

Joia Spirit sparkling canned cocktail review by The Pursuit of CocktailsWe have 3 new flavors from Joia to try!

I have a lot to celebrate this week. First, my birthday was last week so I'm having a birthday party for my friends as we tailgate the Nevada Day Parade which is just blocks from my house. WooHoo. Secondly, Joia Spirit's was sweet enough to send me their three newest cocktails to try which I'm super excited about. And third, I get to share the cocktail love with my friends at my birthday! That is pretty much the trifecta of awesome in my book. I even whipped up a little canned cocktail birthday cake to celebrate! ;)

Since there are three flavors to try, I'm going to do one a week for the next few weeks and the Key Lime Vodka Soda is up first.

Joia Spirit canned cocktail review of the sparkling key lime vodka soda.

Here is my official review of Joia Spirit's Sparkling Key Lime Vodka Soda:

Three cocktail shakers

Since we have 3 new flavors to try, I picked the one I was least excited about to try first. For some reason that seemed like a good strategy. I am not much of a vodka soda girl so the key lime vodka soda is first up. I personally prefer more flavorful cocktails generally. I am readily willing to trade calories for more flavor. With that being said, this key lime vodka soda surprised me. It has a great key lime flavor to it and the bubbles made it fun to drink! This canned cocktail is crips and tart and really pretty good.

If you are into the hard seltzer thing, then I think you'd really like this. It is super similar to those with the carbonation and light flavor. While I'm not drawn to vodka sodas or hard setlzers, I liked this sparkling key lime vodka soda.

Sweetness

One cocktail shaker
One shaker = not sweet at all  // Five shakers = your teeth may curl

This is the farthest extreme from last weeks super sweet cocktail. This Joia canned cocktail is not sweet AT ALL. It is tart. It has key lime flavor. But it is not sweet which make sense since the can boasts it only has 4 grams of sugar.

Booziness

Three cocktail shakers
One shaker = does this have booze? Five shakers = Four Lokos

Officially this one rings in at 6% ABV which is pretty average for ready to drink cocktails. I really like that this sparkling cocktail line from Joia is a bit stronger than the uber popular hard seltzers.

This is a very drinkable canned cocktail so it would be easy to have a few of them without realizing it and then wonder why you have such a strong buzz.

Would I buy this ready to drink cocktail again?

I probably wouldn't buy this one from Joia but that is only because I'm still head-over-heels with their cosmo (you can read about it here). But I am looking forward to try the other two flavor from Joia over the next two weeks.
