Hi cocktail queens! I'm back this week with a brand new review after taking last week off in light of the crazy time we are living in. I am thankful that the protests are continuing and I'm keeping my fingers crossed real change is on the way. And while it still seems weird to me to go back to "normal" and to be enjoying a cocktail again, I guess the show must go on.
A whiskey canned cocktail seems like the perfect way to get back into it so this week I'm trying another ready-to-drink cocktail from Greenbar Distillery out of LA. If you missed my previous post about their Rum + Cola canned cocktail you can check it out here. It's a good one. You don't want to miss it.
If you follow me then you know I love a whiskey drink so I was excited to try Greenbar Distillery's Whiskey + Soda. My only concern here is that I really dislike soda water but I'm always up to try any cocktail so let's do it.
Here is my official review of Greenbar Distillery's Whiskey + Soda:
Holy whiskey batman! This canned cocktail will knock the wind out of you. I think I've had to many light cocktails lately because I did not expect this Whiskey + Soda cocktail to hit me so hard. It is basically straight whiskey. Great tasting whiskey - but still, wow. That's a whiskey shot in a can. And I kinda love it.
Once the shock wore off, and I took a smaller sip, I was able to truly taste and appreciate this cocktail. If you like whiskey at all, you'll notice right off that this cocktail is made with the good stuff. This is a top shelf whiskey cocktail.
The soda water didn't bother me the way I thought it might. Honestly, I didn't even notice it. It maybe tones down the natural sweetness of the whiskey a touch but that's all I got from it - which is great in my book.
One random side note, I tried this canned cocktail both cold, straight out of the fridge and at room temperature because I got distracted and forgot about it. I'm pretty sure that's how iced coffee was invented too. Anyway, I actually preferred this cocktail less chilled. Do with that what you want. I just thought it was kind of interesting.
One shaker = not sweet at all // Five shakers = your teeth may curl
This canned cocktail is sweeter than say a hard seltzer but the sweetness is purely from the whiskey. It isn't bitter like I thought it might be from the soda water which made me really happy. So while I wouldn't call this a "sweet" cocktail, just know that it does have that nice whiskey sweetness to it.
One shaker = does this have booze? Five shakers = OG Four Lokos
Officially this one rings in at 7% ABV which I love. I'm all for the stronger canned cocktails.
This Whiskey + Soda has a serious kick to it so you feel that 7% with your first sip. The whiskey is right there and you feel the warmth from the booze right off. This is not a sleeper cocktail so you don't have to worry about accidentally drinking several and not realizing it. There is no doubt you are drinking a stiff whiskey cocktail with this Whiskey + Soda from Greenbar Distillery.
Would I buy this ready to drink cocktail again?
I would definitely buy more ready-to-drink cocktails from Greenbar Distillery. I did like their Rum + Cola a little bit more because I like the sweetness of the artisan cola but now I really just want to try *all the cocktails* from these guys. They know what their doing for sure.
If you live in Los Angeles, cruise by their location for a cocktail and a full tour of their distillery.

What is that extra little flair on my can?
That is my newest creation, The Swizzly™!! The Swizzly is a brand new cocktail pick / drink marker / swizzle stick. The can Swizzly has notches so that the stick locks into the top of your can so you can add garnish or use it simply as a drink marker. I also have a Swizzly for bar glasses that works the same way. More details coming soon - launching Summer 2020.
