Hi cocktail lovers! I'm back this week with another whiskey drink - aka one of my favorite types of cocktails to try. This one is from Fling Craft Cocktails. I've tried one other of their ready-to-drink canned cocktails and was honestly a little disappointed so I wanted to give Fling another try. If you missed that review you can catch up here.
The packaging pulls me over to the Fling canned cocktails every time I spot them. The box, the cans, it's all just so well done. You know I'm a sucker for branding and I just couldn't resist any longer and I bought a package of their Bourbon Smash. So let's cross our fingers and pop the top of another Fling cocktail and hope for a really good cocktail inside.
Here is my official review of the Fling Bourbon Smash:
If you are looking for a light whiskey drink then definitely check out this Bourbon Smash from Fling. You can taste the whiskey but it isn't a kick-you-in-the-teeth, strong af whiskey drink - which is what I personally prefer. I like a nice strong cocktail so for me this one missed the mark a bit. It has decent flavor but overall it tastes like a watered down version of what would probably be a great cocktail if it was a little richer.
One shaker = not sweet at all // Five shakers = your teeth may curl
This ready-to-drink Bourbon Smash is not sweet. It does have just a touch of sweetness from the light whiskey flavor but not much else. The can mentions that it has vanilla and apple flavors but I didn't pick up on those individually.
One shaker = does this have booze? Five shakers = OG Four Lokos
Officially this one rings in at 9% ABV which is on the higher end for canned cocktails and is what makes this one so hard to explain. The flavor is not strong at all but the booziness is - but you can't taste or really feel the booziness. I'm confused. I guess I'll just have to drink another one and see if I can figure this cocktail out.
Would I buy this ready to drink cocktail again?
No, I don't think so and I'm really bummed about it. I really want to love the Fling cocktails. Their branding is so fun, they have a great range of cocktail options, and they are from Missouri just like me. But after trying two different cocktails from their line up that were both a miss for me, I think I have to give it up and say that this brand just doesn't make the kind of cocktails I like which makes me sad. I really don't want to admit that these cocktails might be all show and no go.
Who knows, maybe I'll give them another go in a few months. Part of me really wants to try every cocktail in their line up just to see if I can find one I love.
