Canned Cocktail Review: Crown Royal Whiskey and Cola

Posted by Jaime Fowler on

Crown Royal Whiskey and Cola canned cocktail review by The Pursuit of Cocktails

Hi cocktail lovers! I have one more Crown Royal cocktail can review for you. So far I've tried the Crown Royal Peach Tea cans and the Crown Royal Washington Apple cans. This week it is finally time for the Crown Royal Whiskey and Cola canned cocktails - otherwise known as the original Crown Royal cocktail to many people.

The Crown Royal Whiskey and Cola cans capture that true Crown Royal look with the deep purple and gold. I know I said this before but these Crown Royal cans are a class act! They are so well done and just straight pretty to look at!

But how does it taste? Let's do this!

Here is my official review of the Crown Royal Whiskey & Cola canned cocktail:

4 out of 5 cocktail shakers
That'll work! If you've been following along on this Crown Royal cocktail journey with me then you know it's been a bit of a mixed bag. Because of that I wasn't sure where the Whiskey & Cola can was going fall - and it is pretty good.
Of the three Crown Royal canned cocktails, this one tastes the most like the cocktail it was inspired by. I could taste the Crown in this one much better than in the others and the cola taste is pretty good as well. Overall, I'm mostly on board with the Crown Royal Whiskey and Cola.

Sweetness

4 out of 5 cocktail shakers
One shaker = not sweet at all  // Five shakers = your teeth may curl

This Crown Royal canned cocktail was sweeter than the others. It has sweetness from both the whiskey and the cola but it is not overly sweet. I would say it is pretty much exactly what you'd expect in terms of sweetness from a whiskey and coke.

Booziness

3 out of 5 cocktail shakers
One shaker = does this have booze? Five shakers = OG Four Lokos

Officially this one rings in at 7% ABV again so it is about the same as a darker beer. I did not get a buzz from this one right away but I could taste the whiskey so I know it is there somewhere. :)

Would I buy this ready to drink cocktail again?

Maybe. If I do it would be for the pretty packaging and the brand recognition mostly. For me the aesthetics of these canned cocktails are great and the drinks themselves are okay, but I'm not dying to get my friends to try them. I have other cocktails I would probably share with my closest friends before I offered them these BUT if I was going to an event with people I don't know as well, these would be perfect. They are eye catching and everyone recognizes the Crown Royal name.
