Canned Cocktail Review:
Cafe Agave Spiked Cold Brew

Cafe Agave Spiked Cold Brew review by The Pursuit of Cocktails

Cold brew coffee cocktail? Um, duh! Give me that drink!

If you've been following my blog for a bit you know I'm on the hunt for Cutwater Spirit's coffee canned cocktail - but I haven't found it yet. I did, however, find this coffee cocktail from Cafe Agave and did a little happy dance right there in the aisle at Total Wine. There is probably a security cam somewhere that captured the whole thing. Just like time I locked my keys in my car and I had hauled myself up onto the roof of my car to shimmy through the open sunroof but that's a story for another day.

Coffee and cocktails? Sign. Me. Up. Am I right?

This canned cocktail comes in a dainty little four pack of what I would consider mini cans - 187ml to be specific. It seems like the perfect cocktail to take to an outdoor Fall or holiday activity and they are small enough you could easily tuck them right into your purse.

I did noticed after I popped this cocktail open that the can says you do not need to refrigerate this drink - which I totally had. Now I'm wondering if it's not supposed to be chilled when you drink it.

So with that in mind, just know my taste test is for a chilled Spiked Cold Brew. I'll try it again unchilled at some point and report back. If you have tried this cocktail or have insider information about this chilled/unchilled debate, please let me know in the comments.

Here is my official review of the Vanilla Cinnamon Spiked Cold Brew from Cafe Agave:

Four cocktail shakers

This is a very solid four - almost a five. As I was drinking it from the can it got sweeter and tastier towards the bottom of the can. So it started as a four but improved to almost a five towards the end of the drink.

The instructions say to shake the can before opening it which I did. I shook it enough that it mini-exploded when I popped it open. It did have a bit of that strong alcohol smell and taste with the first few sips which I wasn't a huge fan of but it improved dramatically as I continued to drink.

Luckily I have three more cans of this cold brew coffee left so I plan to try pouring the cocktail out of the can and give it a good stir next time I indulge in one of these. My working theory is that all the good stuff stayed at the bottom of the can because it was a whole different cocktail towards the end. This plus the chilled/unchilled issue makes me wonder if I didn't drink this canned cocktail correctly.

I'll do come more experimenting and report back once I decide on the perfect way to drink this tasty read-to-drink cocktail.

Sweetness

Three cocktail shakers
One shaker = not sweet at all  // Five shakers = your teeth may curl

I definitely thought this canned cocktail would be sweeter than it is. It has just a touch of sweetness to it but nothing you would notice if you weren't, say writing a blog post about it. The vanilla and cinnamon flavors do come through and it is a very tasty cocktail. The only flavor I really didn't pick up on was coffee . . .

Booziness

Three cocktail shakers
One shaker = does this have booze? Five shakers = Four Lokos

This canned cocktail officially rings in at 12.5% ABV so it is boozier than normal beers. I didn't get an obvious buzz from drinking it but I did get much more talkative which is always a sign that I've been hitting the sauce. If you ever want to know anything, just give me a cocktail and I'll start talking your ear off.

Would I buy these again?

Heck yeah! I really want to try all of the flavors. Cafe Agave also has their Spiked Cold Brew cocktails in Mocha, Salted Carmel and Espresso. I can't wait to try all of them and when I do, I'll of course let you know how they were right here on our blog.

Have you tried this drink? What did you think? I'd love to hear from you in the comments section. The more opinions the better! Let's "drink together" and share our cocktail stories.
